I recently spent a day on a one-day wellness retreat at The Ranch Malibu, and I left surprised by what stayed with me most.
My friend and Pilates instructor curated an incredible group of 28 women for this intimate 24-hour experience. Each cabin at The Ranch is designed for single or double occupancy, with very limited availability for shared rooms—keeping the overall capacity intentionally small and personal.
Nestled high above the Pacific in the Santa Monica Mountains, The Ranch Malibu feels worlds away from everyday life. There are only two ways to experience it: through a full private property buyout for 24 hours, or through their renowned six-night immersive wellness program.
After just one day, I can honestly say—if 24 hours can do this, six days would likely transform you entirely. You don’t just leave feeling refreshed. You leave feeling realigned.
The grounds at The Ranch, Malibu
The grounds are impeccably beautiful, featuring a fully working garden that supplies the chef’s entirely plant-based kitchen. Every meal is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and deeply nourishing—though intentionally small in portion size.
There is no alcohol. No caffeine. No meat. No dairy. WiFi is limited. Electricity is minimal. Phones are technically allowed, but gently discouraged.
And here’s where the magic really happens.
There is no hum of routers. No glowing screens. No streetlights. No background noise of modern life. At night, the only light comes from fire and stars.
It’s rare, and it’s powerful.
For the first time in a long time, I felt both completely disconnected and deeply grounded—fully present with the place, the people, and the rhythm of the day.
That post 24 hour glow
We began our morning with a 90-minute hike through the Santa Monica Mountains, lush with winter greenery and wildflowers. January is one of the most beautiful months in Southern California, and the landscape did not disappoint. It was warm, but invigorating—challenging in the best way.
After the hike, our feet were treated to alternating ice and hot baths, designed to reduce inflammation and release tension. It was incredibly restorative—my whole body softened.
By then, we were ravenous. And while the portions remain intentionally modest, lunch was one of the most delicious salads I’ve ever had—made entirely from ingredients grown on the property. Fresh juices accompanied each meal, further supporting the detox process.
From there, we moved into massages, followed by cold plunges and sauna rotations. The focus is always on circulation, recovery, and balance.

That evening, we gathered for a special guest talk with one of our attendees, Kelly Noonan Gores—author and creator of the documentary Heal. Her work explores the connection between mind, body, and healing, blending science, spirituality, and personal transformation. It was thoughtful, inspiring, and deeply aligned with the spirit of The Ranch.
Dinner followed at a long communal table, surrounded by roaring fires and an overwhelming sense of calm. There was laughter, meaningful conversation, and a shared feeling of gratitude.
Afterward, we participated in a meditative sound bath in “the barn.” It was grounding, soothing, and profoundly relaxing.
I don’t think I’ve slept that well in years.
I brought my laptop with me.
I never turned it on.
That, more than anything, was my reset.
Without constant notifications, emails, or urgency, my mind finally quieted. There was no pressure to respond. No need to multitask. No digital noise.
Just presence.
Just stillness.
Just space to breathe.
Driving home through Malibu the next day, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude—for my health, my family, my work, and the beauty of the world around me.
That feeling stayed.
If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, overstimulated, or simply in need of intentional restoration, a wellness retreat like The Ranch Malibu can be truly transformative.
Whether you’re curious about a private buyout, a full six-night immersion, or a customized wellness journey elsewhere in the world, I would love to help you design an experience that feels uniquely you.
Because sometimes, the most luxurious thing you can give yourself…
is space to reset.
