I’ve been going to Cabo for over 25 years—and it’s changed. A lot.

But in the best way. It’s kind of like a solid marriage—we’ve grown together, not apart. And that’s exactly why I keep coming back.

I love Cabo because it just works. It’s beautiful, safe, fun, and genuinely easy. There’s something for everyone—and it delivers luxury without any sense of pretentiousness.

The travel day is simple. The service is consistent. The experience feels seamless.

And I think that’s what stands out most to me now.

After years of traveling everywhere—from Hawaii to the Caribbean to Europe—Cabo is the place I come back to when I want something I know will deliver.

Hawaii is stunning, but the service can feel inconsistent depending on where you stay. The Caribbean is beautiful, but things move at a slower pace—and the food can be hit or miss.

Cabo, on the other hand, just…hits. Every time.

It’s the kind of consistency you don’t always realize you’re looking for—until you have it.

I’ve stayed everywhere: VRBOs, Pedregal homes, The Westin (honestly, not terrible), all-inclusives, The Cape, Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, Marquis Los Cabos… and of course my top 5 below. 

These are the five hotels I consistently recommend, book and personally choose to frequent again and again. 

Not ranked 1–5—each one serves a different purpose depending on the trip.

One&Only Palmilla

If I had to choose one—this is it.

1. Spacious, oceanfront rooms (some of the largest in Cabo)
2. True butler service (and they actually use it)
3. Multiple standout restaurants on property
4. Kids club, shopping, and a layout that just flows

They say the beach is swimmable—I’d call it “sometimes.”

This is the most well-rounded hotel in Cabo. Couples, families, everything in between—it just works.

Montage Los Cabos

A completely different energy.

1. Modern, sleek design
2. One of the best swimmable beaches in Cabo
3. Great spa + strong restaurants

Often labeled as family-friendly—I think it’s better for couples or families with older kids.

Rooms can be a little tight for younger families, and there’s minimal shopping—but if you want polished and design-forward, this is it.

Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas

Family Cabo done right.

1. Swimmable beach + marina access
2. Large rooms, suites, and residences
3. Golf, kids programming, multiple restaurants
4. More private East Cape location

Las Ventanas al Paraíso

An icon—and still delivers.

1. Book it right: plunge pool, oceanfront
2. Beautiful property, strong restaurants
3. Service is polished and consistent

The pool dynamic is a bit mixed (main pool + kids overlap), and there’s no traditional kids club—but I’d still send couples or families with older kids. My kids weren’t necessarily “older” the last time we went but they are quiet and definitely appreciate top notch service.

Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection

Palmilla energy—just not quite as leveled up.

1. Great for multi-gen (lots of multi-bedroom options)
2. Strong food, easy overall vibe
3. Comfortable, livable layout

It can price higher than I think it’s worth at times—but for the right group, it works.

Why I Keep Coming Back

Cabo has range—and that’s the point.

It can be easy or elevated, family-friendly or couple-focused, quiet or a little more social. But across the board, it delivers in a way that’s consistent—and that’s harder to find than people expect.

After years of traveling everywhere, I’ve realized that’s really what I’m looking for.

Not just somewhere beautiful—but somewhere I don’t have to think too hard about. Somewhere I know the service will be there, the food will be good, and the trip will feel easy from start to finish.
